    Dr. Brown is active in diverse musical genres. He is writing/recording raps, instrumentals, soul music & others. He is preparing several publishable articles, with special emphasis on one that introduces his efficient approach to performing the high level marimba solo Grand Fantasy in C Major with a cross handled grip (heretofore thought to be unplayable with that grip).

    Dr. Brown has been a member of The Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, Jacksonville University Orchestra (guest performer), Daytona Beach Seaside Theatre, Daytona Beach Children's Music Theatre and Clay County Community Band. He completed all courses for a Ph.D. in Music Education from the University of North Texas. He has taught and served as a band director at several institutions including Mississippi Valley State University, Prairie View A&M University, Bethune-Cookman University, Paul Quinn College and Florida State College-Jacksonville.

    Dr. Brown has performed works such as Berlioz' Symphonie Fantastique, Ginstera's La Danza, Duke Ellington's Celebration, The Mikado, and Bells are Ringing. He has worked at Mississippi Valley State University, prairie View A&M University, Bethune-Cookman College, Paul Quinn College, Edward Waters College, Florida State College in Jacksonville. He established the Edward Waters College Applied Percussion program, and instituted the first official percussion ensemble classes.
